Yalobusha Greenways Alliance shares common values of diversity, equity and inclusion and acknowledge historic and long-standing practices which have negatively affected and excluded minority groups in our community from all facets of life.

Realizing the opportunity this new community-wide project provides to engage and include those historically disadvantaged populations, we commit to the following proactive actions as we embark upon the mission of our organization.

1. Acknowledge the benefits of diversity and seek to include members of different gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, income levels, and persons with disabilities in our planning and leadership team and our general membership and constituency.

2. Develop an equitable trail network which provides connectivity and mobility for all users, creating another transportation option which includes intentional features for the most diverse purposes and usages.

3. Consult and follow guidance offered by such organizations as the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) in planning and design stages.

 

By adopting this vision statement, we seek to plan, construct and maintain an equitable trail system which is designed for the unique demographics of our community to engage all people and to celebrate and serve many differing needs.
